Ironic that Vietnam is becoming an expat haven for retirees from around the world.

My son's in-laws live in Vietnam 6 months out of the year. The father served in Vietnam and met the mother there (she is Vietnamese). After raising 2 kids in Michigan, they bought a place in Vietnam and enjoy their time there. They still live in Michigan from April to October

I actually visited Vietnam in October, myself (Hanoi and Ha Long bay) and was amazed at what a beautiful country it is, how nice the people were and how CHEAP everything is. Dinners for 4 of us with bottles of beer and water would be $12 total. You can get spoiled in a hurry with that cost of living.
