Would make no difference. Wasted a lot of treasure in terms of money and lives due to the apparatchnick fantasy you could win there. All you will be able to do is punish future Taliban and what other groups that commit actions directed at Americans in Afghanistan, or outside its borders. But you will never claim a win there. Not in the sense of a win over Germany and Japan
