James Mattis’s Letter of Resignation
The Atlanitc ^ | 12/20/18 | Mattis

Posted on 12/20/2018 4:38:48 PM PST by central_va

One core belief I have always held is that our strength as a nation is inextricably linked to the strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships. While the US remains the indispensable nation in the free world, we cannot protect our interests or serve that role effectively without maintaining strong alliances and showing respect to those allies. Like you, I have said from the beginning that the armed forces of the United States should not be the policeman of the world. Instead, we must use all tools of American power to provide for the common defense, including providing effective leadership to our alliances. NATO’s 29 democracies demonstrated that strength in their commitment to fighting alongside us following the 9-11 attack on America. The Defeat-ISIS coalition of 74 nations is further proof.

The second sentence negates the first.

I think the draw downs in Syria and Afghanistan are the nails in the coffin reasons behind the resignation. He was Tillerson in uniform but has the discipline to keep his mouth shut for the most part. Mathis and Tillerson were still trying to save the old post-WWII order despite it fraying and not adapting to a changing world situation, even if it means America continuing to be screwed.

The lack of perpetual war will drive the globalist, neoconservatives and NeverTrumpers insane. If Trump appears headed for re-election they will attempt to take him out, bet the farm on it.

You hit the nail on the head.

Trump during the campaign and when first in office said there was no sense in being in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan any longer and the number of troops we have committed elsewhere is much larger than it should be.

Mattis contradicted him on every one of those things. He fought to keep the status quo in place and resist putting the policy of America First in place.

He should have never accepted the job in the first place rather than accepting it and working against the goals he knew full well Trump had in mind.

In the execution of such a plan, nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. Antipathy in one nation against another disposes each more readily to offer insult and injury, to lay hold of slight causes of umbrage, and to be haughty and intractable, when accidental or trifling occasions of dispute occur. Hence, frequent collisions, obstinate, envenomed, and bloody contests. The nation, prompted by ill-will and resentment, sometimes impels to war the government, contrary to the best calculations of policy. The government sometimes participates in the national propensity, and adopts through passion what reason would reject; at other times it makes the animosity of the nation subservient to projects of hostility instigated by pride, ambition, and other sinister and pernicious motives. The peace often, sometimes perhaps the liberty, of nations, has been the victim.

In the military, you get your orders, salute and carry them out. End of story. Mattis did none of that. He is an Obama General who should have never been in that position.

“He opposed the President’s decision to withdraw from the Paris “climate change” accords, opposed decertifying the Iran deal, opposed tariffs on steel and aluminum (a move by the Prez that brought countless jobs to America), and opposed moving the embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. And Oh yeah, and he was FOR trannies in the military. Good riddance to globalist trash.”

Wow...He almost sounds like a demoncrat /s

Mattis also testified in public testimony that the enhanced interrogation (waterboarding) did not work.

That is a damnable lie and he HAD to know that. It led us to t he personal courier of BinLaden and is the reason we tracked him to Abbotobad.

He was all talk if you ask me. Just another globalist neocon. He said dramatic things, “Tears in my eyes..artillery..If you F with me i’ll kill you all” etc.
Then promptly prosecuted the Haditha Marines who fought exactly the way he talked.
All his “warrior” talk, the he fills USMC infantry and SF and rangers with women, homos and trannies.

Never married weirdo, no kids. Draw your conclusions.

Now he’s mad that anyone dares think America is allowed to do anything without “allies” being on board, and that “allies” should set out national interests.

Good riddance.

Flynn is not an Obama Democrat. He was fired by Obama for reforming DIA and providing intelligence that portrayed things on the ground as they were and not as the President wanted them to be.
