Go back two years on FR and read how he was the greatest thing since chipped beef.
This revolving door and discontinuity thing at times has my head spinning.
About 6 months ago - I saw an article on the number of top Trump officials, cabinet secretaries, staff members and so on that had come and gone since January 2017.
It was over 50.
It must be close to 70-75 by now.
It’s called a Meritocracy. Give people who have the right qualifications and credentials to show what they can do, judge the results, and either keep or move them out. Very simple. Mattis was unquestionably qualified and has done some good things, and failed in some regards. He’s also served in the military for 44 years and as SecDef for two and is 68 years old.
Not surprising at all for these positions to change. Trump is running about the same pace as C level corporate executive placements.
That was before he became beef chips. Good riddance... he fought against the POTUS agenda at every turn.
I’ve always have tremendous respect for General Mattis, but it seemed to me early on that they disagree on certain issues. Mattis would have been perfect in a Jeb! or Rubio Administration. I agree with you, though, that many were big supporters of him. I liked him but had those caveats.
I hope Trump picks Tony Schaeffer (sp) or someone who truly aligns with him.
The Mattis-is-chipped-beef crowd failed to learn from his confirmation hearings were he rolled over like a trained pooch foretelling things to come like doing nothing about women in combat, lowered training standards, 32 yo mother of 2 becoming a Ranger, transgenders, gays and sex change operations - the list goes on for pages.
The man stood on his ‘reputation’ and it was bought wholesale
