Raleigh, N.C. The couple at the center of an international money laundering and murder-for-hire case appeared in federal court again on Tuesday morning in Raleigh.
Investigators say Tanya and Leonid Teyf profited off a $150 million kickback scheme involving a contract with the Russian military and used the proceeds to purchase their multimillion-dollar mansion.
Since December 2010, the couple opened at least 70 financial accounts at four different banks, and wire transfers show money coming into the couples bank accounts from countries known to launder money, including Belize, the British Virgin Islands, Panama and Seychelles. Investigators said the Teyfs bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of luxury cars and more than $2.5 million worth of art.
In February 2018, Leonid Teyf told a confidential source that he believed his wife had been involved in a romantic relationship with the housekeeper's son. Teyf told the informant that he wanted to pay someone to get the son to talk and then have the son overdose on drugs.

Yawwwwwwn...
I want the movies rights. “Moscow on the Tobacco Patch”.
If you drew a 50-mile circle around Raleigh, and included ALL foreigners involved in various money-laundering operations....there’s probably at least three-hundred individuals in some form or another moving money around. It’s not just Russians...there are various Nigerians, Chinese, and Middle East types.
I think between friendly handshakes with local politicians, law enforcement, and the ease of access with the international airport...they made Raleigh a ‘hub’, and into a long-term problem.
Wait just a bit and some numnut lamestreamer will try to connect these Russians to Trump.
When I first saw the article, before reading it first, that is exactly what I thought it was about.
Me too. I figured they had found the elusive smoking gun to nail Trump.
Now if he was a democrat and ran for president they wouldn’t touch him.
Sorry for that possible perception.
It caught my attention because there aren’t that many 2.5 million dollar mansions in Raleigh.....and these two Russians lived in one. There aren’t that many cases of hire to kill either. Raleigh just doesn’t get that much “excitement” and in the current “Russian-obsessed” environment, it was just curious to me. Sorry if it is too boring or confusing to bring up.
Good title!
Correction - it’s a $5 million dollar mansion, not 2.5 million
dollar.
Also, the way they caught them was through an attempt to bribe a Homeland Security Official whom the Russian man thought was helping him set up the live-in housekeeper’s son for murder or deportation to Russia.
The wife was also arrested but then was released because she was evidently a battered wife.....
Am sure this story will be on 20/20 or one of the other tell all programs one of these days.....
Haha, you need 5 Russians to tell this story. The husband and wife, the housekeeper and her husband and the son of the houskeeper and her husband. The housekeeper’s husband ran one of Russia #1’s businesses and the son was suspected of carrying on an affair with the wife of Russian #1 and Russian #1 wanted the son to go away.
“you need 5 Russians to tell this story.”
Ain’t it the truth! What intrigue!
