We live in a community which has pretty much been taken over by Punjabi Indian immigrants-legal and illegal. Like tens of thousands. I can tell you from direct experience it hasn’t been the enhanced multicultural asset it’s been peddled as. Many have integrated well and embraced the rules and norms, but we have thousands and thousands that don’t and they are truly ruining a once beautiful community. Number one: No interest whatsoever in Canadian culture, refusal to speak english. We’ve had new neighbours going on 3 years who still haven’t introduced themselves or said hello. Number two: Drinking WHILE driving and generally being drunk at the wheel. We have the most insane car crashes and fatalities weekly here and inevitably there’s a carload of drunken Punjabi kids or adults behind the wheel. Our light pole has been sheared off twice in 2 years. The longtime residents here do a annual spring cleanup and you wouldn’t believe the liquor, beer and wine bottles we clean out of ditches. Hundreds of them every spring. It’s like the early 1920s. Number three. Throwing their household garbage EVERYWHERE but at their front curb where it belongs. It’s a real mystery why these people load their cars with garbage and dump it in public spaces and parks when they can just get curb pickup. I’ve heard it’s a caste thing where you have to get garbage away from your domicile asap. Only untouchables are to be around garbage. Number four. My personal pet peeve. Dumping “offerings to the Gods” in our pristine lakes and rivers that our local community has spent decades and millions to rehabilitate. The “offerings” include coconuts, takeout food, melons, as well as pottery, trinkets, saris, other clothing, and ashes of the deceased. I do a kayak run in spring and pulls bags of this pantheistic crap out of our river every spring. It’s disgusting and our local water authority is afraid of addressing it. If you’re a regular Canadian, expect a 20k fine if you were caught dumped anything in a river. but different rules apply to Punjabis because the local government is afraid that insistence on clean water will be perceived as racist.

People falsely think that what one ‘believes’ is private and should not affect a neighborhood......but it does as you’ve obviously stated in your post. Religion matters and what one practices....and these foreigners and illegals bring with them their believe systems......dumping their garbage everywhere is one of those.

How about if you have a Physician who believes if you die you’ll just come back as a frog or a horse.....I wouldn’t want him/her treating me because this is the ONLY life I have short of Heaven.
