That’s the place. To be more accurate, the winery is still probably up in the mountains, but I think the tasting room has moved down into Santa Cruz.
The Bonny Doon Vineyards tasting room is in downtown Davenport north of Santa Cruz. It’s right next door to the Davenport Roadhouse, an excellent restaurant. Be sure to get their fresh sea scallops when they are in season - they are fantastic, sweet and tender meat. No fake shark meat masquerading as scallops at the Roadhouse.
A mile south of Davenport, you turn east on Bonny Doon Road, go until it turns into Pine Flat Road, and continue about a mile until you hit “Ice Cream Grade Road.” It eventually turns into “Felton Empire Road.”
The roads up in those hills have the best names ever. Where else in the entire country can you drive on Ice Cream Grade Road? It’s like Mark Twain himself made up the names.
A safe place for cry baby snowflake liberals
