Bingo! The armed innocent citizen needs to put his/her firearm down and show their open hands to the police when they show up. The citizen’s job is done at that point. It’s up to the police from that point forward.

If I could, I'd have the gun empty and on a table before the cops rolled in.

Anytime I drive I remove my gun and secure it in the console. If I'm stopped for a traffic violation, the cop is going to know I have a CCW before he approaches my truck. When he asks me if I'm armed, I want to be able to truthfully say that I have a gun but that it is not on my person.
