Tucker Carlson is Wrong on this One (That Trump is “not capable” and has not kept his promises)
American Thinker ^ | 12/09/2018 | Elad Hakim

During a recent interview, Tucker Carlson openly shared his opinions about President Trump, stating that the president is “not capable” and has not kept his promises. According to a Washington Post article, Carlson stated:

“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said, adding that those goals were probably lost causes. Trump, he said, doesn’t understand the system, and his own agencies don’t support him.

“He knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do, so it’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things.”

Carlson’s conclusion that Trump is “not capable” and that he has not kept his promises is overly- simplistic and easily refuted.

There are many points that discredit Carlson’s conclusions, some of which were referenced in the Chicago Tribune:

First, Trump promised to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He also promised to crush and destroy ISIS and is well on his way to doing so. Moreover, he promised to impose a travel ban on those countries that he deemed posed a terrorist threat to the United States and which the Supreme Court eventually upheld. Additionally, President Trump promised to appoint conservative judges and justices. Since taking office, he has appointed Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and countless other judges to the federal appellate courts. He also withdrew from the terrible Iran deal and has kept various promises with regard to trade.

Three points for discussion:

Carlson points to three promises that Trump has not fulfilled:

* building the wall

* defunding Planned Parenthood and

* repealing ObamaCare.

All of the above are BEYOND TRUMP’s CONTROL IMHO. It is CONGRESS that Tucker needs to fault, not Trump.

I’m seriously thinking that Tucker may be trying to appease the left a bit so they’ll leave his family alone.

Yeah. Trump’s chief promise is that he would defund PP? I don’t remember that being the #2 chief promise. Destroying Isis and conservative judges I remember a lot more which Tucker conviently forgets.

Yes that is true, but I agree with Tucker that Trump has not surrounded himself with the best people.

In fact, some of them are highly suspect.

I’m not sure how much of this is his fault though, because the GOP basically sucks, and there is no one other than him to rely on.

I agree with Carlson...

I voted for Trump to:

Build the wall and jettison the illegals.

I’m one and done.

Building the wall should depend on taking action against Mexico. The president promised Mexico would pay.

Like Obama’s promise the keep your doctor, getting Mexico to pay for the wall is unfulfilled and apparently unfulfillable.

Pelosi is gleeful when she reminds us of the unfullfilled promise

His chief campaign promise was to build the wall. It isn’t done because he has been fought every step of the way by his majority congress.

So, Trump has fought for it. It’s simplistic to say he hasn’t kept that promise.

Sounds like Tucker has been compromised or threatened by Fox with dismissal unless he ‘plays ball’.

"...beyond his control..."

President Trump is truly an expert at navigating complex construction projects.
One has to think there is a way to classify wall construction costs as national defense to thwart invasion.

Reduce or eliminate aid to Mexico to defray the costs. It is not like Mexico was going to write us a check, anyway.
That will force a future Democrat POTUS to advocate removing the wall, which will have terrible optics for them in Real America.

I don’t blame him on Obamacare because I don’t think Congress was willing to repeal that. He shares the blame on Planned Parenthood although I guess he and others simply decided that was not an important issue. As far as the wall is concerned he’s been trying. The only fault I can find with that is that his rhetoric has given the courts an excuse for quashing his executive orders and that has weakened his leverage. He has the power to control the border. If he could do that then it would put the onus on his opponents to change the law. But the courts quash everything he does claiming it’s racist because of things he’s said.

This is true. Most of the blame lies with RINOs like Ryan and McShame and Flake. However, Trump did promise those three things while knowing he would be dealing those RINOs.

Trump has been building the Wall in portions with the limited funds he has.

He has been fighting Congress for the $25 Billion that is needed to complete the project. Congress has not given him the money.

Now that the Democrats have taken over the House, how much money do you expect he’ll get to build the wall?

And when someone like Ted Cruz actually sponsors a bill to fund the wall to the tune of $25 Billion, what did he get even from FR? FLACK !! ( Many Freepers, instead of supporting him, actually CONDEMNED him for grandstanding ).

And Trump is at fault for this?

President Trump has to fight the democrats, the media, the FBI,the CIA, a bunch of Republicans as well as jagoffs like Tucker. The President has done an amazing job when you consider what he has to go through every day.

Trump has a pen and could have vetoed any spending bill that did not include funding for the wall. He instead, signed bill after bill and offered some lame ass excuse that “He would not do that again”, and signs the next one that crosses his desk.

The country is going down the tubes. We voted for Trump as the last, best hope..We won’t get another chance.

So, I gather you’re OK with SHUTTING DOWN the government before the end of the year if the money for the Wall is not allocated?
