What exactly does a brief counselor do?
The same thing as a preacher but without the prayer
A brief counselor is short and to the point.

I’m not sure. Last summer, my son was on volunteer summer staff at a Christian camp. One of his fellow staffers was swimming and had a medical problem underwater and disappeared.
My son and a few others jumped in the water and initiated a search. He also began CPR when they did find him.
The father of the staff lead is a counselor and he came for a day or so to talk to the staff to make sure they were OK, especially the ones who were involved.
I don’t know if it was helpful at all as most of these kids are pretty well adjusted.
I have a buddy who is a paramedic who basically only handles trauma gave him some great advice starting with it’s up to God to decide who lives and dies.
His second piece of advice was “You acted, you didn’t stand there and watch, you dove in the water.” Thant meant a lot to him.
