Dec. 9 (UPI) -- More than 1,000 people were arrested during another weekend of protests in France, as President Emmanuel Macron plans to hold talks with business leaders and trade unions Monday.
France's Interior Ministry said 1,723 people were taken in for questioning, 1,220 were taken into custody and 135 were injured over the weekend as "gilets jaunes" or "yellow jacket" demonstrators took to the streets for a fourth weekend in protest of rising living costs, elimination of the "fortune tax" and a lack of government effort to address inequality, CNN reported.
Following the meetings Monday, Macron is expected deliver an address calling for national unity and urging the protesters to seek dialogue.

I’ve seen this prima donna speak many times. I can’t imagine him pulling this off. His disdain for the everyday Frenchman seeps from his pores. Unless he’s ready to deliver some serious concessions, he’ll probably just make things worse.
Will say the rioting was really due to climate change that Trump refused to sign on to and therefor all the rioting was Trump’s fault.

Funny thing about revolutions. Starts out wit a focused, straight-forward protest about a specific policy (motor fuel taxes). Then they quickly metastasize to a whole raft of grievances, coming so quickly that the government can’t react quickly enough. Their OODA loop is too slow.

This is a tax on your total assets (wealth) that was passed in 2011 by the socialist government back then. (If you managed to work hard, save and accumulate some assets that was considered manna from heaven (a ‘fortunate’ event) that you needed to “share”)
Macron cut it back so that now it’s only based on your real estate assets.
Apparently the protesters don’t like the gas tax but are all in favor of soaking the “rich”.
Certainly not a fan of Macron, but the mob ain’t much better.
