Don’t kid yourself. The Dems would be a solid block and Romney would be at the helm organizing the likes of Collins, Sasse, and more anti-Trumpers than you’d like to admit. Some would be willing to do it, and like King could likely be paid well enough for it unless Trump really overturns the DS in the next few months, even if it were the likely end to their political careers.

The question is whether the Dems would go for such political suicide—and right now I’m not ready to bet against it.

I don't think there's going to be enough from that.

You need 67 Senators to convict (2/3rds). The GOP has 53, dems 45 plus two "Independents".

So, assuming EVERY democrat votes for impeachment and what you counted: 47 + 3 = 50, how will Romney get 16/7 more?
