Comey transcript of closed-door interview with House committee released

House Lawmakers on Saturday released the transcript of former FBI Director James Comey’s closed-door testimony, just 1-day after being questioned about the FBI’s decisions related to Hillary Clinton's email server and the 2016 presidential election.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and House Oversight/Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-SC, published the 235-page transcript as a part of an agreement with Comey.

He initially challenged the subpoena to appear before the committee and instead pressed for a public hearing out of concerns his comments would be selectively leaked and taken out of context.

The details of the transcript revealed that Comey left lawmakers frustrated with his lack of specifics.

READ THE FULL COMEY TRANSCRIPT HERE.

According to a statement from Gowdy’s Office, Comey answered “I don’t remember” 71-times, “I don’t know” 166-times and “I don’t recall” 8-times.

When asked if the FBI had any evidence that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired to hack the DNC server, Comey gave a long-winded answer referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as to why he couldn’t answer.

“Did we have evidence in July of (2016) that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired to hack the DNC server?” Comey asked rhetorically. “I don't think that the FBI and special counsel want me answering questions that may relate to their investigation of Russian interference during 2016. And I worry that that would cross that line.”

When pressed further by Gowdy about what “factual predicate” the bureau had to launch a counterintelligence investigation, Comey again claimed that answering that question would be a “slope” that would ask him to reveal what the FBI “did or didn’t know about Russia activity” as it related to the 2016 election.

“You can't tell us, or you won't tell us?” Gowdy asks.

...So it's both a can't and a won't,” Comey replied.

Question to Comey: Why did you consider it NOT breaking the law when you passed FBI documents to the media, via your former friend but current attorney, that triggered the appointment of Robert “Nifong” Mueller?

all that trump and the ag have to do is take the comment report on diary which outlines her crimes, and have her indicted and imprisoned. This would break up all the BS

I read about this on the NYPOST.

Can someone Puh-Leeeeeze explain to me what Comey’s statement

means in legal eagle?

Where is Comey going with this statement other than his own

It's a shame that Papadopoulos, Manafort, Flynn, Cohen and Corsi weren't sharp enough to learn that lesson. It's been working for decades and congress thinks it is a good answer no matter what committee it's given to.

I had a stupid friend in college back in the 70s. That guy somehow had the notion (probably from Perry Mason shows) that no one ever went to prison unless they stood up in court and confessed everything. My friend said confidently: "I will never go to prison, because I'll just never confess."

I tried to convince my friend that you could actually be sent to prison if the jury thought you were guilty -- even if you didn't confess. My friend thought I was an idiot.

But here we are: if you are a big shot, you can just say "I don't remember" hundreds of times, and if you do that, you are untouchable and can never be punished for anything.

Maybe my idiot friend was on to something.

If the Media was not doing interference for the ComDems, this would have long been exposed.

Now? Whatever it takes.

Special Prosecutors rules are different if you are a Republican.

Will the public ever take a serious court case seriously again?
