I think you are right, it doesn’t take long. We “dog-sat” for an older dog that belonged to a friend of DD’s, over college Christmas break one year. The dog was with us about a week and a half. DS2 had a grand mal seizure in another room, unknown to us, but the dog alerted us. She was lovable and smart. Told DD if that dog ever needs a home bring her to us.
