WASHINGTON At workplaces across the United States, it is routine for Americans conversations to turn to President Trump whether his policies are good, whether he should be impeached, what to think about the resistance. Some drink from MAGA mugs; others tape cartoons to their cubicle walls portraying Mr. Trump as a Russian quisling.
But roughly two million people who work for the federal government have now been told that it may be illegal for them to participate in such discussions at work a pronouncement that legal specialists say breaks new ground, and that some criticized as going too far.
Generally, federal employees have been free to express opinions about policies and legislative activity at work as long as they do not advocate voting for or against particular candidates in partisan elections. But in a guidance document distributed on Wednesday, the independent agency that enforces the Hatch Act, a law that bars federal employees from taking part in partisan political campaigns at work or in an official capacity, warned that making or displaying statements at work about impeaching or resisting Mr. Trump is likely to amount to illegal political activity. The guidance was issued by the Office of Special Counsel, an independent agency that enforces the Hatch Act, including by investigating complaints of improper political activity and recommending discipline like a reprimand or firing for violators. The agency also enforces the Hatch Act against state and local government officials whose salaries come from federal grants.

Hatch Act of 1939 - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatch_Act_of_1939
Overview:
The Hatch Act of 1939, officially An Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities, is a United States federal law whose main provision prohibits employees in the executive branch of the federal government, except the president, vice-president, and certain designated high-level officials, from engaging in some forms of political activity. It went into law on August 2, 1939. The law was named for Senator Carl Hatch of New Mexico. It was most recently amended in 2012.
The 2012 Amendment to same:
Go work someplace else if you don’t like the management, the location, the job, whatever. Don’t create a hostile workplace for others. I just went through mandatory ethics training and TDS posters, speaking, etc. creates a hostile work environment.
‘Pernicious...’ ;)

How about, insult the boss, get fired. That’s how it works for the peasants.
Half of Fed employees need to be shown the door.
I hear there are all sorts of real jobs going begging.
It’s so gay how they call themselves “the resistance”. They love the drama of pretending they are in France under the nazis.
It helps their loser boring lives seem important.
Interesting development. Quite a few people at the FBI and DOJ seem to have been in gross violation of this . . .

If America is ever allowed a REAL Attorney General again, I’ve got my fingers crossed! ;)

Then The Donald got elected. I routinely see stuff said about the POTUS that would have NEVER been tolerated under the past 2 Administrations.
The irony of the rules was not lost on me when I saw a bunch of blog posts about insider threats to intelligence disclosure--and no one talked about Hillary Clinton, the most publicly visible bad example.
This is also why democrat inaugurations are more heavily attended than Republican inaugurations. The workforce is large, the workforce is largely democrat supporting (especially around DC) and, they have inauguration day off of work.
For the Patriots in the Gov work force, who would they report seditious activities to?
Trump “resisters” should not be Federal Employees.
Only half? I'd say at least 90% are nothing but parasites.
We came under tighter and tighter restrictions for the 8 years of the Obama administration, at least in my military unit. I suspect Commanders were feeling significant downward pressure to keep a lid on any dissent.
Any, and I mean ANY derogatory statement about Obama was dealt with swiftly. I received a Letter of Counseling for supposedly not reining in the speech of a subordinate, a conversation neither of us remember, in the presence of an African American subordinate. The point was quite clear.
They can just darn well suck it up, buttercup now. No sympathy from me.
