AFGE sends letter to House and Senate to avoid December 7 shutdown and support a 2019 pay adjustment for civilian federal employees

WASHINGTON – With a little more than a week before the expiration of the current continuing resolution that will result in a partial government shutdown, the American Federation of Government Employees has sent a letter to members of the U.S. House and Senate urging them to keep the government open and to pass a pay adjustment of at least 1.9 percent for federal workers in 2019.

The letter, signed by National President J David Cox Sr. on behalf of more than 700,000 federal and District of Columbia employees represented by AFGE touched on the dangers posed by a shutdown and the need for a proper pay adjustment for the 2.1 million federal workers who keep the country running.

Whew!!! Then I was right to email POTUS yesterday suggesting he shut it down if he does not get full funding for the wall and, for a change, do not give pack pay to the non-essential workers who usually get a free vacation courtesy of our tax dollars.

I was traveling by car a lot for jobs in 2015 & 2016. Paul Ryan was on the radio (hannity, and other shows) most weeks from when he took over in 2015 until April/May 2016 talking about the budget. He was convincing when he expressed concern and spelled out his plans and promised (over and over) to pass a “real budget”. He gave regular updates on their progress in 2016 and promised we’d get a budget on time. I really liked him, and his ideas and knowledge of the budget process and direction he said he was taking. Then the budget disappeared from his concerns and he hasn’t passed one in his time as speaker.

I now put him and the Clintons in a class by themselves when it comes to lying and manipulating the public. I know there are lots of contenders and real scumbags in politics, but Paul and Bill can lay out some really convincing BS with faked sincerity and with no intent on following through.

As Paul said repeatedly in 2015 and 2016, there should never be a discussion of the budget in November since it’s the house’s number one job to get it done by October. He failed miserably every time (or succeeded depending on what his goals were)

Shut it down. Most govt workers “ are non-essential. Never pay them for that time off.

Aaaaargh.

Fedzilla does NOT shutdown.

EVER.

Most of it is deemed “essential” and keeps right in functioning. Unfortunately.
