Agreed. There is a reason why Soldiers/Marines etc carry their weapon slung in front, either muzzle down or muzzle up and on a modern tactical sling vice the old standard M1907 or even worse, a fancy padded strap with little or no adjustment ability and over the shoulder or on the back.
With a proper tactical type sling, the weapon is always within hands reach and addressed across the torso on the shooting side which enables the shooter to rapidly acquire their weapon but still have two hands available for other tasks u until the moment of truth presents itself.
It is generally accepted in Africa that when hunting dangerous game, the sling is removed, that way the gun is in your hands, plus you don’t get the sling hung up in brush, or whatever when you need to bring it up quick. It is good advice in grizzly country too.
If you need to take a shot hunting, you should have time to put on the sling, for me it doesn’t make much difference anyway.
Have you noticed that their scat always smells like pepper spray?
