I’d say courageous. Like those missionaries in South America that were massacred, then later came to Christ.
lol
Especially when you’re tired from work and comfortable on the couch and you answer the door only to see these people.
I am usually somewhat polite unless they push the envelope
Can we send Pope Francis there?
I feel for the kid... suicide by religious zealotry.
I am sure he felt God would protect him, but someone around him should have explained the meaning of Matthew 4:7
I pick answer B. Self righteous idiot.
The Missionaries of a hundred years back didn’t know what they were facing. Today, you can get a pretty good general idea of the local attitudes a native would have to an outsider. He had to be aware of the danger.
For him to keep going forward anyway, makes me guess that the aspect of vanity figured into this expedition. He wanted to be the one who brought The Word to these people.
Some degree of vanity looks just like self confidence, and is fine. Over that degree, one becomes Vainglorious and Foolhardy just for the distinction.
Another way to see this is, this young man may have been on what amounted to a suicide mission. Perhaps he suffered from low self esteem/ depression and had finally decided what he needed to do to lift that heavy black cloud of despair.
He want to go out with a bang, or in this case a death by 1000 cuts. Maybe is Patron Saint was St. Sebastian.
Catholics know about Sebastian.
SOMEbody needs to bring The Truth to them......Exactly why?
You guys might think Im crazy in all this but I think its worthwhile to declare Jesus to these people,
Tribe to the moron Chau:”declare this”.
Agreed. There are wolves out there that will devour the sheep.
Based on what I know, which is very little, I would lean toward well meaning fool.
That's not photoshop, by the way.
Much later I found out he had previously tried to become a Hollywood actor, and got into drugs.
That's when he changed things up and started this other crazy stuff.
EATEN.
This wasn’t very inclusive of these folks.
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. Rom 10:15
His ears heard the Lord say well done good and faithful servant. The Lord will use his death for His glory.
“SOMEbody needs to bring The Truth to them. “
You do it.
Deception itself is an arrow!
Yup, that is the former idiot.
What he learned was that he was acting contrary to the will of God
O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
Anyone want to tell Christ how foolish he was? How about the apostles that were killed because they didn't recant? How about all the martyrs? How about all the other missionaries that spent their lives trying to reach people without Christ?
Amazing how hostile people are to the Gospel on a conservative forum.
“What part of Leave us the f**k alone! was unclear to him?”
...and don’t come to my door either.
The tip of the spear.
Well stated and i’m going with the “seeking glory” theory.
He would have been known forever as the man who did what no others could do.
Didn’t seem like he wanted to die as he wrote “i don’t want to die” not long before he did in fact die.
And now he will be forgotten very quickly.
