A community in the central Logar province of Afghanistan has awarded the Bravery Medal to the US President Trump for his recent stance against Pakistan.
The handmade medal was prepared with a total cost of $645 with the contribution of the participants of an informal Jirga in which around 300 people had participated.
Syed Farhad Akbari, a community leader in the province, on January 14 told RFE/RLs Afghan Service that more than 300 people at an informal jirga, or council, of concerned citizens agreed to award the medal to the U.S. president.
He said the handwritten message on the award states: This Bravery Medal is from the Afghan people to Donald Trump, president of the United States of America.
Akbari said the cost of the medal was about 45,000 Afghanis ($645), considered a large sum for many in the region, about 60 kilometers outside of the capital, Kabul.
This comes as the US President Donald Trump nearly two weeks ago criticized Pakistan in strong words for harboring the terrorist groups despite receiving billions in aid to support the counter-terrorism efforts in Afghanistan.
The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more! Trump said in a Twitter post.
No doubt if we hear about it in the New York Slimes the headline will offer up something akin to my sarcasm.
Think of the sacrifice those people made to make a medal that to them was a huge sum of money.
Thanks for finding this. Posting would be complete if we had a pix of the award and a map showing where this province is located . Would, but can’t do it with what I use.
This is actually more meaningful than Obamas Nobel Peace Prize.
How brave are these people
It seems that being over educated ninnies precludes the media from recognizing what to these people is worth so much that it probably cost them most of the money they had to show their appreciation I.e. that Trump will do what he thinks is right. He does not bother about the optics. He does not determine what is right based on colour or ethnicity or any of a hundred other things that the left consider more important than the moral imperative of just doing what he believes
get our brave soldiers out of there.
Civilized Afghans expressing gratitude to an American President at great personal sacrifice & risk to themselves. Hoodathunkit?
For one brief shining moment Afghanistan ceases to look like a hostile black hole for U.S. lives and resources.
Almost like the Anglo-German Christmas truce of 1914.
That award is from the heart and very sincere. Our President should accept it PROUDLY.
The Logar Province chapter of MAGA = Make Afghan Great Again - with Trump’s help and our military/civilians efforts, plus those of our allies.
Thanks adds much to this posting.
The best civilian analysis can be found at The Long War.
Most of our bases get hit with rockets weekly, some more so. Our bases are the equivalent of castles. The Taliban target civil authorities much more since they don't want us to re-engage.
The Afghans are supposed to be taking care of their own provincial rule. In practice, this means the Taliban have free reign over the majority of the country, and can pick off areas at will. The objective is to terrorize the locals from participating in any significant national government. The reality is that Afghanistan has not ever been, nor will ever be, a country. It is a collection of warring tribes that ally with whomever offers the most immediate benefit to the local chieftans. (
After billions of dollars and thousands of lives, the average Afghan sees no difference and our presence has changed from liberator to occupier. While tactics and technology have advanced to limit casualties, the situation on the ground is very familiar to any student of history.
Though the term "Afghanization" doesn't seem to have caught on, it is entirely appropriate. (See Vietnamization 1969-1972)
