Don't think for a moment that this wasn't a backroom deal. The dems, knowing they would lose the governorship and senate seat anyway, said they would stop contesting the two if they got the ag post, and the GOP, knowing the ag post in FL is essentially a sinecure anyway, agreed in order to settle the deal. We got the atty gen post, which (unless Moody becomes a Sessions) can spend the next four years digging the Dem dirt on voter fraud, and ag will let the sugar lobby do what it's going to do anyway.

I would if I had any idea what an ag commissioner does. Does he commission agriculture? What’s that, and why should anyone care.

I don’t know how much power the FLAG Commissioner has but I would think up the food chain (no pun intended, but I’ll take it anyway) fairly high.

It’s the RR Commissioner that runs 2/3 of the Country of Texas.
