Whenever I speak to liberals/progressives/democrats on this topic, I am told that immigration is a net economic gain for the country. For them this is an Article of Faith. Nothing can be said, no facts can be shown, that can counter their religious fervor.
This includes a friend who is health policy researcher at RAND, as was the author of the article.

Pro-Democratic activist judges are wrongly ignoring the following about citizenship / photo ID voter cards in order to vote for federal politicians.
This is because, evidenced by predictable alleged ballot box manipulation by Democratic state actors, states need such voter cards in order to comply with Section 2 of the 14th Amendment imo, Sec. 2 mandating penalty for ballot box manipulation by state actors.
”14th Amendment, Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens [emphasis added] twenty-one years of age in such State."
Note that Sec. 2 has been effectively changed, but not repealed, by subsequent voter rights amendments (19, 26).
I read somewhere that we spend $135 billion a year on illegal immigrants.
18.5 billion is ridiculously low

18.5 billion? It’s sad but I have a hard time believing the number is that low.
It can’t be that low. Total health care subsidies approaches $700 billion. Assuming 11 million illegal residents and even proportional breakdown, it would be at least $22 billion. If you use the 20 million number, it would over $40 billion.
And I don’t think this number includes what is spent by the states and counties, and what is written off by hospitals as noncollectable receivables. We hear the counties complain about the cost all the time.
