I heard just the opposite, that the resorts like Cabo are getting real bad because the banditos know they’re full of rich gringos and law enforcement is slow to respond. Years ago, 10 at least, George Noorey relayed a harrowing story of how he was the victim of a kidnapping by a taxi driver he hired to take him to the airport from Cabo. He narrowly escaped with his life. It used to be on YouTube, it could still be. I did hear that the smaller villages were actually the safest places to go in Mexico as the cartels leave them alone and tourists traditionally don’t visit them. They said the big cities and resorts are not safe.
