You know, I also had this other kinda crazy idea. Howzabout we finish, say... half of the 6 or 7 wars we have going on, and straighten out a few very serious problems here in the US of A before we go look for a new war and a whole new theater of operations?
Venezuela’s US assets, which we can freeze, was worth billions to include Citgo Oil out of Texas. Citgo, meanwhile, hangs in the balance as international creditors maneuver to grab PDVSA assets — perhaps none more valuable than the Houston refiner — to recover losses from Venezuela’s borrow and try to support economy.
At stake is not only the survival of Citgo, but also some 4,000 jobs nationwide, including 800 in Houston, where state and local governments provided a $20-million-dollar package of incentives and low-interest loans to lure the company here from Oklahoma in 2004. Ultimately, analysts expect Citgo and its three U.S. refineries to be sold — possibly in pieces — to satisfy the billions of dollars in claims against the government of Venezuela.
And that, Trump can do.

The Trump administration has taken notice and has tightened sanctions that effectively seal almost 16 tons of Venezuelan gold held by the Bank of England.
But that, I would think, would require Great Britain to be involved.

In a country of 31 million people, that works out to about $20 per person!
Bottom Line...
If Maduro plans to live through the economic catastrophe he has created, he better invest all $625 million in his Palace Guard and the government bureaucrats who support him.

If makes me sick to think back in 2003 or whenever it was, they had Chavez!! All they had to do was put him against a wall. But they didn’t and his loyalists freed him. 15 years later the country is still suffering under his protege.
I hope we don’t offer him asylum here when he gets tossed.

Many times it gets into a “pi$$ing” contest based upon what allies are supposed to act like. An example is the “treaty” that Obama set up with Iran which called for the release of billions of dollars from all over Europe and many country run banks that was accomplished due to US stupidity thus affording Iran to get the funds to speed up their nuclear program by many years.
Trump, without British support, can only freeze what Venezuela has in the US which is substantial. But we would lose a huge amount of oil from them we would have to make up as due to our lack of exploration and pumping in the last 30 years, at least, we are dependent on their oil.
