It’s typical anymore. Guilty until proven innocent even if the proof is staring them in the face. They have to “Do their job” and throw “somebody” in jail. Innocent or not... “just throw them in jail and let the courts sort it out”.

Been there a couple times now...

Happened to me once MANY moons ago. Cops showed up because DV (domestic violence) was reported. My state always believes the woman (and this was 20+ years ago). In my state, law says if DV reported an arrest MUST be made, so they arrested me, even though my clothes were torn and face bloodied by my wife. In court, the Judge told my wife she was lucky the cops arrested me and not her, because whereas I was let off, she would have been found guilty. I spent a night in jail, took my six months to work way thru the court system, paid money I did not have for Court mandated specialists to interview and assess me, wages lost from time off work, and at the end of the day, I still have on my record that I was arrested, just not convicted, of DV.
