Exactly, there is no reason they cannot fund the wall during the lame duck except for the fact that worthless POS
Ryan doesn’t want the wall and neither does McCarthy who ran ads for the last month saying ra ra lets get the wall funded now. Where are those ads now that he won?

Give him 2 years before the Cali Rat party figures out a way to steal McCarthy’s seat too.....then Scalise will be the leader.

Better headline: 75% of Republicans are Chamber of Commerce Ass-Kisser, 25% are OK.

Isn’t McCarthy like John Boehner 2.0?

Are you guys on crack?

First of all, there is no chance Trump is not gonna win renomination so why would he consider such nonsense?

Second of all, educate yourself on what happens when there is a vote split.

Oh, you’ll seen soon how extremely different it will be when you see some Black guy holding a committee gavel grilling some poor shmuck trying to force him to say something bad about the President.

McCarthy is an awful choice, I think he’s content to stay in the minority forever, ala Bob Michel in the 80s

Hey man, have some common decency! ;-p Don't be talking about this Obamanation of a rat "majority" existing beyond the upcoming Congress. That's quite a harsh insult to old Mikey anyway that I don't think he's done anything to earn.

McCarthy is certainly an establishment Republican, but he was a loyalist to nominee Trump during that "Billy Bush" nonsense" and was supportive of him before, which is presumably why Trump endorsed his mistress, Reene Elmers. The White House seems to have blessed his ascension. So everyone (not you Bill but other people on this thread) who is decrying this as unTrumpian, wake up. One tweet in favor of Jordan or someone else could have made a giant difference.

I like Jim Jordan, who unfortunately was hurt by that horsepoop trying to link him to a homosexual predator (note the guy went after young adults yet no one used the word gay or homosexual to describe him) who must have worked for the sissyest wrestling program ever cause his "victims" should have caved his face in. Jordan was probably doomed after that (which was I'm sure, the point). But I'm not sold he was the better choice anyway, in any case this wasn't much a race, McCarthy was in like Flynn.

Scalise seemed reluctant to run against McCarthy, his friend. Maybe it would have been different if we'd won. Either he's keeping his powder dry or he's a coward, can't know, can't say. If he had been Speaker-designate a few weeks ago maybe that could have helped during that "bombing" and "Nazi shooter" nonsense. Really, we should have run ads showing his damn scars.

Looking on the bright side, McCarthy is a good fundraiser (something Jordan may have struggled with given the circumstances) which is extremely necessary for taking back control.

All in all a lot of people are this thread are being hysterical and ridiculous and need to chill. To take back the House, primarily, we need the President to be winning reelection. We won the House in spite of it being lead by Boehner and then Ryan, it's not really so critical that anyone needs to slit their wrists.

A lot of the nancy boy RINOs took a hike (or lost) so this conference is certainly gonna be more conservative than the last. And playing defense is....well it's sure as hell easier than "governing" so I don't think Leader McCarthy will give us much reason to curse his name these next 2 years.

Liz Cheney? Gak. Well I see no one ran against her. I hope she has more to offer than a famous last name, I hardly think she made much of a mark in her first term in Congress. Supposedly she be handling communications and they think her time as Faux News contributer will help with that. It may very well, presumably some of the many freepers who used to tout her election must have seen her on Faux and didn't just love cause she was Dick's daughter.

I’m not a Republican but Trump has me voting straight R. Bush globalism was poison and I recognized it early on. If the party doesn’t stand with Trump and what his voters want, it will collapses. I’m not sure that resonates with ppl like you but nevertheless it’s the political reality Republicans face. Now go sell lock step unity to the Never Trump crowd.

I’ll tell you what resonates with me. Winning. Which is not possible under the silly idea that you love.

Which I will reiterate is manifestly unnecessary and downright bizarre as Donald Trump is the leader of the GOP and his hold on it’s nomination is secure. Let the cucks like John Kasich be the third party.

You do realize that McCarthy has Trump’s blessing BTW?

Republicans just lost 40 House seats in part because of McCarthy’s best bud Ryan, so before I snuggle up to him I’d like to see what he does rather than what he says. And unfortunately for DJT he has embraced more than a few stinkers over the past 2 years. See Magoo as an example. Again, the Republican party’s future is in their own hands; spend some time ridding it of Never Trumpers rather than asking a Trump supporter like myself if I’m on crack.

I didn’t mean to offend you but an “idea” that would result in the democrats winning 400 electoral votes and supermajoriy of Congress demands that I ask the drug question.

Republican VOTERS support the President. Almost all of them voted for him despite the “Never Trump” whining and in 2020 they will do so again, even most that didn’t like him just to keep Hillary out. And you want him to leave the party that he leads and is certain to win the nomination of cause a few jerks like Paul Ryan don’t like him? That’s bonkers amigo, it does not make sense on any level.

Don’t be so touchy about “ideas” as you call them, they’re remarkable things. Almost as remarkable as the voting coalition of political non-conformists like myself that Trump put together in ‘16. It was us who helped put him over the top in the rust belt states and not the stuffed suits that controlled the statewide GOP. I support Trump 100% and subsequently the Republican party, but that could end as quickly as it began if his agenda is thwarted by the open border crowd, some of whom parade around as Rs. We’re in deep trouble nationally and congenial Republicans who speak of their “friends across the aisle” won’t save my kids & g’kids from totalitarianism. If the Rs won’t fight with Trump, they’ll go the way of the Whigs and it will all be on them.

If he hadn't been the Republican nominee and was instead an independent candidate he wouldn't have been near enough to the top to require your help in going over it and Hillary Clinton would have President and her Supreme Court would be ready to tear your grandkids a new one.

I could understand people like you calling for an independent bid for Trump if he had lost the nomination but he WON IT. And he's GONNA WIN IT AGAIN for crying out loud!!!

I doubt you understand me if you can't understand the conversation I posted to in this thread. The inference was if Trump's agenda is blocked again by key Republicans, and he moved ahead in 2020 as an independent, would he be supported. He would by me and the two posters I included. Should that happen, again we're discussing a hypothetical, I'd stand with Trump and you could then decide what's best for you.

Has former congress woman Ellers divorced her neurosurgeon husband in NC, and moved in with this idiot McCarthy? Look up what Mark Levin thinks about this dude. Ryan was an obvious free labor amnesty guy. McCarthy is a singular mouthy moron.

It’s an absurd hypothetical that would result in democrat victory,

Even if “Trump’s agenda is blocked again by key Republicans” there is no reason he should torpedo his reelection by not perusing HIS CERTAIN RENOMINATION.

Hardly. The Rs will collapse if they continue to oppose Trump's agenda.
