Angela Merkel called for the creation of a 'real, true' European army during a speech to EU ministers on Tuesday in a rebuke to President Trump.

The German Chancellor also called for a European Security Council that would be responsible for coordinating defence policy on the continent.

Merkel spoke out after French President Emmanuel Macron floated the same idea last week, drawing the ire of President Donald Trump.

If I were Trump, I would agree with both Macron, and Merkel. Give the EU a timeline of one year and withdraw all U.S. troops from Europe, close down NATO and stop all military funding to the EU..
I would expect that both M&M would change their positions very quickly.

Lithuania also had men in the Waffen-SS. A complete division I have heard that fought on the western front.
They surrendered when they were trapped as the retreating Germans blew up the bridges behind them.

The Finns were caught between the Germans and the Russians and were allied with the Germans.
They raised a Finnish SS brigade that fought on the eastern front.
When it was clear the Germans were toast they demanded their troops back and withdrew back into Finland.
