CNN’s Cuomo Slams ‘Thoughts and Prayers’ Sentiment — ‘What Are You Praying For?’

Thursday, CNN’s Chris Cuomo, host of “Cuomo Primetime,” reacted to the shooting that left 12 people at a Southern California bar dead Wednesday night.

“It was the worst mass shooting in a week,” Cuomo said. “Think about that. Twelve lives, stolen by a thief that visits us weekly. This is our new normal.”

Cuomo slammed people who offer their “thoughts and prayers” to shooting victims, saying they “mock those who lost loved ones.”

“You mock those who lost loved ones because if you gave it any thought at all you would never walk away from any of these without figuring out a better way to deal with them,” he said. “And prayer? You think leaving it to God is the answer? We pray for strength, we pray for wisdom, for resolve, but we clearly don’t want to act on any of those here, so what are you praying for?”

“We can do better. And we all have to live with doing nothing. The next time is coming. And more and more, you, me, our leaders, we’re all becoming part of the problem. Think and pray on that,” Cuomo concluded

The shooter who took the lives of 12 people in Thousand Oaks, California bar posted a Facebook post mocking those who call for “hopes and prayers” after a shooting, according to CNN.

“I hope people call me insane.. Wouldn’t that just be a big bowl of irony,” Long wrote around the time he carried out the mass shooting. “Yeah.. I’m insane. But the only thing you people do after these shootings is ‘hopes and prayers’ or ‘keep you in my thoughts’ … every time… And you wonder why these keep happening.”

Typically after incidents like this week’s shooting, regular Americans, politicians, and celebrities offer their “thoughts and prayers” to the victims, which has turned the phrase into a meme about inaction on gun control.

I noticed the “Thoughts and prayers don’t work!” meme a few shootings ago - Twitter was full of lefties saying only gun confiscation “works” and that thoughts and prayers don’t prevent the next shooting. When I saw this phrase attributed to the latest shooter, I assumed he was using the smirking meme of the left

Providing ‘thoughts and prayers’ is the right thing to do. Posting on social media that you are doing such is a fruitless endeavor. It is humblebragging of the highest degree & lessens the actual act of giving thought & prayer. God does not check Facebook or Instagram. Do it in private, do it selflessly, & there will be nothing for the leftists to mock. Wearing your religion on your chest gets you nowhere & is absolutely unnecessary for ones personal relationship with God.

Mr. Cuomo...What that shooter did was beyond belief because he did not hide his hate for those victims behind words. He just walked in unnoticed and began to shoot. No one knows what his motivation really was, but, from reports, it is entirely possible that even pain medication following a motorcycle accident could have had a role in that. So, in God’s eyes, who is worse, that shooter, or folks like you on CNN who pseudo murder President Trump 24/7, day after day, an attempt which goes back to before his was elected to the Presidency. Might I add that your hatred extends to his supporters, as well. Regarding thought and prayers..That is about all most of us can do when we hear and know of the suffering of others with whom we are not acquainted. You may not understand it, but “thoughts and prayers,” are powerful spiritual tools beyond the material that have the force to comfort, sustain and to give strength to the suffering, not in reserve, but as it is needed. It is not guns, knives, beatings or even war which is our enemy, Mr. Cuomo. It is always man’s inhumanity to man (women, likewise), which has it’s genesis in the envy, jealousy and lust for power over others in the human heart. The actual murders are visible and known, but the real evils are often covered in the darkness where they cannot be exposed until they have destroyed the good they hate. How about those babies murdered on a daily basis for money and gain, Mr. Cuomo? It is a good thing that I am not God.
