REPUBLICANS FILE LAWSUIT OVER TIGHT ARIZONA SENATE RACE
Daily Caller ^ | 11/8/2018 | Jason Hopkins

Arizona’s drawn-out Senate election has attracted a lawsuit from Republicans in the state, challenging the procedure for how mail-in ballots are counted.

Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, both U.S. representatives, are in a heated battle to become Arizona’s next senator. As of Thursday afternoon, McSally had 856,848 votes to Sinema’s 839,775, giving the Republican lawmaker a one-point edge with 99 percent of precincts reporting.

Despite the lead, election forecasters are not ready to declare McSally a winner because of the inordinate amount of mail-in ballots still not counted. About 75 percent of Arizona voters cast their ballots by mail, and county recorders are only beginning to wade through the 600,000-plus outstanding votes — a process that is expected to take days. While Arizona allows for an unusually high number of mail-in ballots, the confirmation for such votes is arduous. Votes by mail can be opened and counted only after a signature confirmation process is completed. A county is allowed to verify a voter’s identity if there is any issue with their mail-in ballot.

As of 5 minutes ago, the NYT has Sinema up by 9,600 votes. So who knows what the true story is.

Funny in 2016 when McCain was re elected it did not take days for his numbers to be posted along with the little check mark next to his name indicating he won.

This corrupt B.S. is ample justification for ending early voting (just provides recon opportunity for dems to know how many votes they need to make up via fraud) and ending widespread vote by mail (multiple weaknesses and avenues for fraud). Make everyone, other than the relative few with bonafide reasons for voting absentee, show up in person on Election Day, and require that all votes be counted by a time certain either on Election Day or VERY shortly thereafter. Any votes not counted and reported by then are void (only exception: actual, verifiable machine malfunctions or logistical impacts beyond the control of election officials).

For our voting system to restore its integrity there must be NO ability to ascertain trends in ballot returns before Election Day, as occurs with early voting, and there must be far greater transparency and accountability for the post-election tabulation process.

I heard a reporter ask Fontes about lawsuits and his response was, “bring it.”
