Good to know!!!! Make him the actual Attorney General as well!
He is the President's choice and I have respect for PDJT to choose carefully this time for the position of AG.
There’s nothing to say that he won’t be acting-AG for a year or even two years.
His confirmation hearing is going to be epic.
Yes, but if he is already acting AG, won’t matter.
I think he’d still have to go through a confirmation hearing if the President wants him in there permanently. Trust me, if starts going thru there like a buzz saw, as the Acting AG, keep him the acting AG for as long as needed. I won’t be upset.
He’s a big fella. I’d love to see him tossing Rosenstein and Wiseman out the door Roadhouse style. Right before he indicts them.
210 days, maximum, unless he gets Senate confirmation.
I may have read, VERY WRONGLY, that the acting AG can’t be chosen as the permanent AG.
Feel free to rip me apart on this as it doesn’t seem to make sense.
I took no drugs since I recall reading it yesterday, nor did I at the time :)
But, the GOP controls the Senate. Actually added seats in the election.
ComDems know this and are insane scared.
BREAKING: Whitaker recuses himself....from SoyBoys.
Acting AG can be re-authorized by Senate approval multiple times.
I’ve never read that Acting AG cannot be named to AG. It may be so, but I don’t remember it being discussed. If he can become the AG, he would have to be approved by the Senate.
From a NY Times article published when GW Bush was President: “Under a 1998 law known as the Vacancies Reform Act, acting government officials can remain in their posts for 210 days with the full legal authority they would otherwise have with Senate confirmation, with the calendar reset to 210 days once a nominees name has been forwarded to the Senate.”
One of Laura’s panel last night, the guy in-studio with her, stated that an ACTING AG cannot succeed himself. It instantly raised the “why not” question in my mind. Probably an attempt to prevent an entrenched tyrant, or some such.
We’ll find out soon enough, I’m sure.
In August 1991, Bush 41 named William Barr as acting AG, then nominated him in September. He was confirmed in two days and served as AG for the rest of 41’s term.
