I gave him two years after 9/11 to send our soldiers to defend our southern border, not to die in foreign countries, and he refused. That was it for me.

Meaning: I decided in 2003 not to vote for him in 2004.

Most Americans thought Bush’s Iraq war was a foolish and disastrous escapade, but until Trump came along it wasn’t permissible for Republican politicians to speak this truth. They had to pretend W was a great leader who “kept us safe.” More than anything, this is why Bush family hates Trump - he told the truth about W.
