LIFE NEWS ^ | November 7, 2018 | Lauretta Brown

Incumbent Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds defeated Democratic challenger Fred Hubbell in Iowa’s high-profile gubernatorial race Tuesday. CNN, NBC, and Fox projected Reynolds as the winner after midnight.

Reynolds faced a tight race against Hubbell. The race was Iowa’s most expensive gubernatorial race ever.

Abortion was a prominent issue on the campaign trail, Reynolds signed a bill banning abortion after the detection of a fetal heartbeat. In contrast, Hubbell is a former Planned Parenthood board member who has promised to restore state funding to Planned Parenthood.

First daughter Ivanka Trump campaigned for Reynolds this past week and former Vice President Joe Biden campaigned for Hubbell the week before.

Last night we lost some but won a lot.

Can’t win them all you know.

I monitored results online all night. There was a veritable tie all night. At 2am Evers shot up by 30,000 . Not believable. We have lots of fraud in WI. Crazed dems for many decades. No morals.

Iowans like their baby-murderers to be Catholic from eastern Iowa. Fred Hubbell is neither.

Interesting comment. We have lived in Iowa for a little over 2 years, and I’m still trying to figure this state out. Why do you suppose the congressional seats flipped from R to D? I’m glad King held on.

Reynolds was not elected her last term but was Lt. Governor and assumed the position when Trump appointed Gov. Branstead Ammbassador to China. That's my understanding.

Eastern Iowa has manufacturing and trade unions and a high proportion of Catholics, who all lean Democrat. For a Dem to win statewide, eastern Iowa has to come through big for the candidate.

Blum in northeast Iowa was against the grain: A Tea Party type in a Dem/RINO district.

David Young’s CD 3 is always going to be a swing district with close races either way if candidates are good.

We are in district 3 which includes metro DM, unfortunately. I don’t understand Iowa. I really don’t.

CD 3 is not hard to understand. Des Moines is a huge Dem lock, the rural counties are a GOP lock, and the Des Moines suburbs and Council Bluffs area lean RINO butt are open to ‘reasonable’ Dems.

I’d bet a close look will show middle class divorced women put Axne over the top.

Not one Dem gave credit to Reynolds for being the first woman elected as Governor in Iowa. Up till now she was appointed.

I grew up in Iowa, while the Des Moines school system has a good scholastic reputation, it is liberal as the day is long

Iowa GOP also held on to both houses of the state legislature in spite of losing 3/4 Fed House seats. They need to do whatever they can to weaken the left in Iowa for the next election cycle.

Blum in northeast Iowa was against the grain: A Tea Party type in a Dem/RINO district.

Blum really was an anomaly, and once Paul Ryan decided to punish him - after he didn't toe Ryan's mark - he was basically on his own without a dime from the GOP... and the Democrats took advantage of it.

that’s great news! Praise God!

Unfortunately, my Irish/Catholic, pro-abortion Governor in NJ, Phil Murphy, embraces abortion until birth, and funds planned parenthood with taxpayer money.

and more, unfortunately, for at least the 2nd time, he was invited to attend mass Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

http://www.cathedralbasilica.org/

He was there today for the Blue mass for police.

Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin served as the principal celebrant and homilist at the 26th Annual #BlueMass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
