Kansas is a unique state with a strong moderate GOP streak in addition to conservatism, especially in more country club KC areas. That’s why the Dem won both races.
It can easily flip back next election if Trump can find a way to make inroads into those folks by focusing more on economic issues. He can still be strong on immigration, but there is no doubt his focus on that to the exclusion of pocketbook issues hurt him in suburban areas.
When it comes right down to it it’s an agricultural state. All those conservative farmer types became whores when they had the chance to hire cheap Mexican labor.
