The Taiwanese supplier to Apple must meet hiring, wage and investment targets by various dates to receive tax and other performance-based benefits
Foxconn Technology is considering bringing in personnel from China to help staff a large facility under construction in southern Wisconsin as it struggles to find engineers and other workers in one of the tightest labor markets in the U.S.
The company, the Taiwanese supplier to Apple Inc., has been trying to tap Chinese engineers through internal transfers to supplement staffing for the Wisconsin plant, according to people familiar with the matter.

Uhhh, not gonna happen.
Of course offering more money is out of the question, right?
I mean, why bow to U.S. market economic forces when you can just import Chinese market economic forces.
FoxConn wants to bring their cheap labor with them.
Not gonna happen.
Exactly.
Every tine I hear well we just cant find anybody my first question is how much are you offering?. Followed by maybe we should try paying more. Not a popular sentiment with upper management though.
wasn’t that a tenant of the TPP????
I've been getting daily email from a couple of recruiters offering a really low ball pay for a "hot" job. They just don't seem to realize they won't get experienced engineers for less pay than my company pays for recent college graduates. Any my company aims to be about median or a little less on pay.
Don’t know.
I recently read an article reporting that Buffalo and other small cities were experiencing a slowing of economic development because of reduction in immigration. Offering more money can be a help. Returning technical education and apprenticeships to our high schools could also help. STEM courses could be valuable. Then too, we might want to develop a more sensible immigration policy.
Well, which is it? No or yeah?
Anyway, I thought it was crazy that the best Chinese food I ever ate was in a NYC restaurant near Times Square. Yes, you have a lot of Chinese there. Newsflash - they're everywhere! But mostly on the East and West coasts. About time Wisconsin shares the burden. I've seen what you've encountered. Here in the SF Bay Area, a Chinese grandma rushed a toddler boy to outside of our local grocery supermarket, pulled his pants down and had him relieve himself on the bushes near the front door. Chinese women with bags of food (with rich smells) crowd the subway station platform, and when the train arrives, from the side they elbow aside people that were patiently standing in a line queue to enter, rude! My wife hates them, and she's Chinese-American (called an ABC since she was born and raised here - American-Born-Chinese).
please Foxxcom, hire Americans!
Because that will do a number of things
Cut into the profit margin.
Increase the break even price (which means you have to charge more)
That and you have to get people willing to relocate, who probably are employed right now.
Businesses are in a panic right now.
This is what the TPP was all about, commoditizing human workers.
Yes. There is a reason the old "Staffing Office" or "Personnel Department" is now referred to as "Human Resources". We aren't people anymore, we are merely a resource to be exploited for minimum outlay. If we can be replaced by someone with similar abilities but will work cheaper (*cough* illegals and H1B's *cough*), they can't dump us fast enough.
Yeah. Training is good. Plus stop teaching stupid courses in universities. Right now this country has truly entered a dark future.
Great move!...yeah, that’s the ticket.
Let’s import Chinese engineers so they can commit industrial and intellectual espionage right out in the open...
This is why I was glad to see the TPP go away. It would have allowed companies to essentially be immigration offices. They could have freely brought “workers” into the USA to staff their US locations. A system like that would been have abused to no end.
