Former Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday announced that her eldest son, Ronald Brewer, had died unexpectedly over the weekend.
He was 54.
"Heartbreaking news for me," Brewer wrote on Twitter, sharing a link to an online obituary. "Prayers for me and my family as we grieve are greatly appreciated."
Brewer already lost one of her three sons, John Brewer, to cancer in 2007.
The cause of Ronald Brewer's death was not immediately clear. The obituary said only that he had died in his sleep Saturday in Phoenix, and a family representative did not comment further.

That is heartbreaking. Death is always difficult but unexpected death is the hardest to deal with. Prayer for Jan and her family.
That’s very sad.
According to the article, he had mental health issues at an early age, but seemed to have overcome them.
It happens, friend of mine died at 54 in his sleep of a heart attack.
Total shock.
Better than in a hospital, hooked-up to breathing machines and IVs, being kept alive artificially.
RIP, Ron Brewer.
I was with my younger brother when he died at age 57 a year and a half ago. He had had a heart attack two weeks earlier, and when discharged from the hospital came to stay with us. I NEVER expected him to die. I dont think I will ever get over the experience of being with him when he passed. Prayers for Gov Brewer. I simply cannot imagine losing two children. Your children are your light in life, no matter what their age.
Very sad.
Not only has she lost one son prior to this now two. There are no words to describe the pain of the death of a child.
Jan Brewer is a fighter for the right. I will never forget this iconic photo of her fighting over illegal invasion of the border with our former dictator:

I doubt many parents are prepared to lose a son or daughter at age ~50. That’s what my Dad said when my oldest brother died at age 44. Very sad.
My half-brother Taylor commited suicide at 19 yrs old in 2008. I never met him (a very long story) but I miss him dearly.
Prayers up for Gov. Brewer
RIP.
