Given the constant hate spewed by the Left toward White people, Straight people, Men, etc......is it any wonder why we will not go along with the Left’s obsessive drive to try to infringe on (the first step toward abolishing which is their ultimate goal) our right to keep and bear arms?
I will go along with calls to give up my guns made by people who I know hate me and wish me harm.

And yes this country is totally divided. My sister is a Democrat, totally hates Trump. I’m the opposite. So I avoid talking politics with her. She is my sister and I love her.
The United States has had divisions throughout its history. Previously, the people, although divided, had a common culture, heritage, religion, and love of country that ultimately bound them together.
Lincoln spoke about the “the mystic chords of memory” binding the country together after the Civil War.
Now, with an increasing number of imported people hostile to or bereft of that memory, and a whole generation of native born being taught to despise those chords of memory, we are now in a more serious situation.
BS premise that we should not accept. Our side has nothing to do with the leftists who use division and violent rhetoric and tactics as a political tool. We want to be left alone and the left will one day push too far which will be doom on them.

The split was inevitable with the end of the Cold War, when there was an existential physical threat.
It has taken a generation to break with Cold War political patterns. And note that throwbacks like the Clintonistas and McCainiac war-mongers want to keep the Cold War mindset and troop distribution.
