Bennett: Rabin memorial a disgrace

Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett blasted Saturday evening's memorial rally as a "shameful leftist demonstration" after Likud MK Tzachi Hanegbi was roundly booed by the assembled crowd during his address.

"The right did not murder Rabin but Yigal Amir," said Bennett. "As a right-wing leader who opposes a Palestinian state, I am tired of the annual false accusations of the left."

"Rightists do not need to come to a demonstration whose goal is to denounce the right. The lesson of the extreme left: The right is to blame. My lesson: neither violence nor civil war. Choose," continued Bennett.

Minister Gila Gamliel of the Likud also denounced the "shameful scenes tonight in Rabin Square. A bunch of anti-democratic shouts who do not respect a minister elected in the government, and then they preach to us about division and tolerance".

Catcalls and boos rained down after Yesh Atid faction leader Yair Lapid told a memorial rally for former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin that "not all of the right-wing killed Rabin".

Rabin was assassinated on November 4, 1995, by Yigal Amir following a political rally in Tel Aviv. Ever since Rabin's death, many in the Israeli left claim that incitement by rightist leaders, and specifically Netanyahu who headed the opposition at the time, led to Rabin’s assassination.

It seemed like Rabin was just about ready to give away the whole proverbial store to Israel’s enemies. Am I wrong ?

That’s ostensibly why he was assassinated. Possibly, Perez arranged it because Rabin was not going to give away the whole store.

The only appropriate memorial to Rabin would be another land giveaway. His memorial could be called : أعطى يهودي غبي لنا المزيد من الأراضي "Idiot Jew gave us more land." Alas Rabin memorials are all over the place.

More leftist incivility. Not a surprise, though I gotta say what did they guy expect? Why even bother saying stuff like “not all the right shot Rabin”. Some truths don’t need repeating and in a way begs for this kind of reaction. Not deserved, mind you, but exposes people for what they are. If you know you are right you don’t have to be defensive about it.

Lapid is a dyed-in-the-wool leftist himself. A media figure who got into politics.

But he said a balanced word in the presence of the Left.
It doesn't matter now, his hair, and how his chin is cleft.
The leftards were outraged. They began to rant and scream
He pinched himself, and 'cause it hurt, he knew it was no dream.
The poor rightists were uninvited
And with them Lapid, too.
Like snowflakes in America
They turned on their fellow Jews.
