You can figure out a better way to pay down the debt or your children can face their eventually Venezuelan poverty.
I think mine works.
The Judiciary did not interview Dr Fraud and removed a club from the Goebbellsmedia to whack them with, it had nothing to do with courage. The woman who examined her elicited all the lies one would want.
Grassley (who isn’t a lawyer) played this perfectly.
Almost 10 years ago I wrote about this nutty idea and the likely outcomes. Back then things were saner ... one could only imagine the nuttery which would come out of such an event today.
If you care to read it ... The US Constitutional Convention of 2009 (the Wise Ones refered to are the talking heads, the learned experts found on almost any outlet like PBS and so forth.
I’m sorry that I misunderstood you. I took your comment as being that my plan would impoverish the US. That didn’t seem right to me. :)
Carry on.
Agree. Its up to the states to reassert their sovereignty. Thanks to a couple of early sixties scotus decisions that did enormous damage, state senate districts (one man one vote) are of near equal populations that disregard rural interests. It is entirely possible our democratized state legislatures will not step up to the plate and do what is necessary.
Jacquerie wrote: “A COS can recommend structural changes, like repeal of the 17th Amendment, to keep and expandPDJT’s reforms.”
Takes 3/4 ths of the states to ratify an amendment. Do you honestly believe that 38 states would vote for any of these amendments favored by the right? All of the blue states wouldn’t and they’d try to propose amendments cancelling things like the 2d amendment. Or, they would take up Obama’s stance that the constitution ought to guarantee things like universal health care, a living wage, open borders.
The Framers were nuts? Revolution rather than peaceful means is the only way to restore liberty?
We possess a nearly infinite amount of resources/assets which is never considered when calculating our “debt”. How much are the coal fields out west worth? How much is the Grand Canyon worth? Or the oil fields? Precious metals? Land (most of several states is federal land).
Considering the financial side of things and ignoring the real side is not good thinking.
I am with you on Repeal of the 17th Amendment! You can trace the growth of government and out of control spending to this outdated punishment of the states.
I fear our Constitution would end up looking like the European constitution, with thousand of pages, trying to detail everything.
For a Convention of the States dedicated to Georgias application language, which would re-balance citizens rights versus federal power and state power, the count is 12 down, 22 to go.
For a Convention of the States dedicated to a balanced budget amendment only, the count is 30 down, 4 to go.
Your plan is subtantially the same as Hamilton’s. That is what the Sinking Fund does. There is a reason Hamilton is our greatest Statesman.
It was touch and go as to whether the Constitution was to be ratified.
Alexander Hamilton is the reason it was.
Agree. The prime talent of libs is lying, cheating, and all other things necessary to get folks of their own kind on committees, college campi, congress, etc.
These clowns will take charge of a convention and change the constitution to their benefit.
Afterwards: civil war.
One which will make CW-1 appear as an amateur show.
“It could go the other way just as easily.”
It already is going the other way. The leftist controlled corrupt courts are interrupting the Constitution to say whatever they want it to say. IOW, as Levin says, we’re in a post Constitutional period in America.
I know that America came to its senses in 2016. I am hopeful of the Tuesday outcome. I know that America responds to PDJT, and am further hopeful that he leads the effort to a COS.
Just as we didn’t dive into tyranny immediately after passage of the 17A, it will take probably decades to turn around our horrid condition. The first reasonable task is to show that a COS will not runaway. Let the civics lessons begin!
The Left has corrupted just about all standing institutions. It has had less luck with the federal electoral college, and I doubt they’ll have any more success with a federal COS.
Do you equate a COS with Congress?
“they want to bypass the usual process.”
Stopped reading right there. “Usual” is a code word for ignoring Article V, just like intentionally misrepresenting the first paragraph of the 14th Amendment.
And other amendments too...

The Convention had been officially called to revise the existing Articles of Confederation, many delegates had much bigger plans. Men like James Madison and Alexander Hamilton wanted to create a new government rather than fix the existing one.
