A gun in the hand is worth more than a carload of cops on the way. Very true. I had a couple of thugs try to break into my motel room a few years ago. As soon as they saw my Glock 23 pointed at them they bolted. Which was a very wise decision. Had they breached the door, I would have opened fire.

But, of course, the gun grabbers say people never use guns to protect themselves. As in your case, often the gun is not fired, because having it is enough to deter the thugs. Glad you were safe.
