That’s simply false. Incumbency is a huge factor in Congressional elections, and with 40+ Republican retirements in mostly swing districts the GOP simply has a bigger downside here than the Democrats.

It's possible that the Dems in control of the House could help Trump and Republicans in 2020, if they don't reign in their crazier instincts. But they have probably realized that some of the most left wing stuff (like Medicare for all, get rid of ICE) isn't playing well and will deep six it for the time being, and also forget about impeachment. Chances are a Pelosi led House wouldn't backfire on them like we would hope.
