Immigration with assimilation is fine. My sister married a black guy from Portugal in the late 60s but he’s every bit American as I am and his family came here Legally and on their own. He spoke English as good as any person descended from English speaking cultures and he was second generation here. He got a job as a lineman and provided a nice life for my sister. Assimilation!
They didn’t jump the border and they weren’t relocated by the UN & fedgov.

I don’t understand your issue here.
Do you think the Hungarian minister was correct, that cultures should remain separate within a country?
Because I think most of our problems are because we are factionalizing, fracturing our country with multi-culturalism. Not the generic “we all have different backgrounds and should remember them” thing, but the “we have our culture and you have your culture and you can’t appropriate ours and you can’t judge us and you have to support us in our culture”.
King believes we should assimilate, he supports immigration of people who are willing to become part of the American culture, he thinks that as we become more integrated, we will reduce our differences, becoming more alike (even while he clearly understands that morally/socially we will have diversity).
Once he said that as we break down the walls of separation between people, we will have more interracial marriages, and eventually we will all look the same. That got turned into a bizarre claim that he thought we should get rid of everybody who wasn’t white.

People create their cultures--not the cultures, people. It is only common sense, whether in America or any other country, to restrict immigration on the basis of merit. What should a people look for? Obviously desirable talents combined with acceptance of the social & political values of the potential host people! It is not hateful to reject those who signal from the very outset that they do not accept the traditional values of the nation being targeted.
