U.S. general says troop numbers at Mexican border to rise further

The top U.S. general overseeing a deployment of more than 5,200 troops to the border with Mexico said on Tuesday that troop levels would rise further, but declined to say how high or estimate what the operation will cost.

Many basic questions remained unanswered a day after the Pentagon announced the open-ended deployment of over 5,200 active-duty troops to the border, including the scope of the mission as well as the Pentagon’s assessment of any threat posed by arriving migrants. […]

General Terrence O’Shaughnessy, the head of U.S. Northern Command, defended the operation at a briefing on Tuesday. He echoed Trump administration concerns about the caravan and compared the border support mission to other domestic military missions, like hurricane relief.

“I firmly believe that border security is national security,” O’Shaughnessy said. […]

O’Shaughnessy said that just over 1,000 troops had deployed to Texas as of Tuesday, where they will carry out tasks like building barriers, erecting tents, and flying government personnel by helicopter to and from different locations along the border.

He said the troops now slated to go to Texas, Arizona and California were only the start of a larger deployment and that eventually troops would go to New Mexico as well. …

Most the people in those Caravans think they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I don’t know what it would take to make more of them turn around. Well, I do have some ideas, but absolutely not before the Mid-Term Elections.
After those Elections are done, I hope for direct, aggressive and unambiguous enforcement of the laws.

There should be an up and down vote on full funding of the Wall and elimination of Catch & Release and publish the nays. Then, every time an American is murdered by an illegal, plaster those names all over the media.

All the namby-pamby bullshit has run its course. It’s time for ACCOUNTABILITY in Washington.

Good, 5200 hundred support personnel troops sounded a bit too light.

They need to be overwhelmed.

If they are 1000 we should send 2000. If they are 10000 we should send 20,000

Are they setting up tents for US military, or for these illegals, and which side of the border are they setting them up at?

They need hundreds of tankers of a super slick fluid they can spray ahead of any hordes, impossible to walk on it.
The organization behind this wants social sympathy if any get hurt, but they don’t care.

Fake news, sprinkled with falsehoods against President Trump. The MSM keeps dishing out lies. The illegal alien invasion does have criminals and non-latinos among them. Some of the pictures of the mob show middle-eastern garbed men. Of course, that is not enough to prove a case. However, the press should not automatically proclaim that it is strictly mothers with children who seek to escape bad treatment in Honduras, without proof.

They don't explain that President Trump is on solid ground with his interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which clearly states that foreigners are subject to jurisdiction of their native countries and their babies born here are not subject to jurisdiction of the USA - they inherit their nationality from their parents. You won't find the truth about the full text of the 14th in the MSM reporting. It goes to the Supreme Court, it'll be decided to side with President Trump's E.O.

Well, if the “migrants” want work . . . then set them to building the wall.

And if they want more work, then set them to building a long-distance canal adjacent to the wall, from Texas to California, that’ll render the Panama Canal obsolete. (The latter is a pipe dream of mine.)

This has become a military campaign, which is the very last thing its formative activists should have tried for. Prodding the lion into eating you may serve perfectly with regard to optics, but you still get eaten.

It is a little amusing to see the media insisting that Trump show his hand at every turn. That's not how it works.

Actually, that may be the case.

There was a supreme court case with two Chinese parents. It was apparently the case on which the current interpretation of the law is based.

https://www.google.com.vn/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna926501

Please note, in that case, the parents had a permanent home in America.

So there is opinion that the citizenship issue was overinterpreted, too strongly.

I don’t know, just saying what I found.

You can read about the case and make up your own minds...

*** Are they setting up tents for US military, or for these illegals, and which side of the border are they setting them up at? ***

Since President Trump stated, “big, beautiful tents”, I assume they are coming in to the US. Optics of Compassion at the expense of taxpayers.

Use the Israeli playbook; big tall wall and lots of tear gas lobbed into the hoards on the other side.

Be sure to include flamethrowers and beehive rounds.

And if the terrorists trying to invade the U.S. include some embedded fifth-column media... hey, icing on the cake.
