Simple answer to WHY they don’t stay in Mexico, Mexico doesn’t have FREE STUFF!!!
Because they know what’s coming after the election...and dare I say “Sessions” will reveal in full what he’s been really up to! ....going to be a lot of people here eating their words.

It goes deeper than that. I just asked my wife this question and she points out (as I did), that EVERYONE knows someone here. All 16 million. They know the stories and their capacity to find work. Also, Mexico doesn't have the safety net of welfare.
Lastly, Hondurans and Central Americans in general, do not have a lot of sympathy for Mexicans, knowing that Mexicans go to the US all the time due to their proximity.
And pay in Mexico is around $3.00 per hour and a worker would not have much, if anything, left over to remit back to families in their home country. Mexico is still a poor country compared to first world nations.
