I think a lot of the reason is guilt ..... because somewhere deep inside them they feel that they are missing something which makes conservatives more pleased with life ---- ie.... an understanding and respect for The Constitution, God, hard work, and general standards of old-time DECENCY.

I could go on .... but for now, that is my answer.
