Watching the Dodgers/Red Sox final innings. It is amazing how a manager takes out a pitcher who is loose & dominating through almost 7 innings, Rich Hill of Dodgers, and brings in nervous reliever(s) who get shellacked. 4 run lead gone. Managers do it all the time, big mistake!
Thats gonna leave a mark
About the only thing that could draw him from the White House, would be ownership of the Yankees... Maybe in 2024, he can get it as a Christmas present from his kids.
I read one report that Hill was getting tired and told the manager. I have no idea why Trump decided to tweet about baseball.
“I read one report that Hill was getting tired and told the manager.’
Dodger manager Robert implied as much in the post-game interview. Do you think Sparky would have ever let Jack Morris leave a game if he said he was tired? Heck no, he would have said suck it up, buttercup, and find a way to win. Now both Sparky Anderson and Jack Morris are in the Hall of Fame.
1. He is an American who likes baseball and apple pie
2. He used his non-POTUS handle
It's a metaphor for the midterms. Don't replace the player(s) who is (are) doing well for the team.
I am not an English major nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Lol. I love this man!!!!
Smart political comment on incumbents.
Thats the beauty of Trump. He states the obvious that many are too timid to say. Even the most hardcore leftist Dodger fan will agree with Trump. DJT has taken shi+posting and trolling to an art form. The reaction well see is exactly what the president had in mind when he tweeted.
To bring the country together. A shared experience is key if the country is ever going to unite. May be too late but when I saw the tweet that’s the first thing I thought of. The country has the right leader for the time. Of that I’m confident. Think about how much better off the country would be if the next days discussions were about baseball and not about how x, y and z person is evil.
Armchair managing is easy after the fact. Hill was at the 91 pitch mark and had gone 6 full innings, which is long for a playoff game, and had walked the leadoff batter. I can’t really fault the Dodgers for pulling him.
Very interesting take. See mine above.
He would if it was a World Series game and he was trying to out-manage his opponent.
This is not presidential. A president should not publicly state any opinion that might divide us even more, whether about baseball or race or trade. He should be nuanced, using cautionary PR-approved language, and seek to ameliorate both sides. And never ever fight back against critics. Keep your divisive opinions to yourself!!

That was the dumbest move in the history of baseball. Hill was pitching an almost perfect game. His stuff was unhittable. You dont take a pitcher like that out until he shows that he is losing his edge. Hill was on a roll.
I told my wife that the manager should be fired after making such a stupid decision. Lost the game and will lose the series.
I have no idea why Trump decided to tweet about baseball.
I don’t know. Who needs a reason for what we do? I, myself, have said smart things, and I’ve said dumb things. That’s being a real man, not a politician who only knows how to lie and hide his inner soul. Trump bears his soul and that’s what people love about him. He is unpretentious, he is us.
I agreed with you but Trumps tweet changed my opinion.
