With just over two weeks until the November midterm elections, Democrats have found themselves championing two specific issues in the run-up to the elections – amnesty for illegal aliens and federal regulation of health care.
This all has prompted me to wonder...does anyone remember that these were precisely the two central issues of the 2014 midterm elections?
Border security took center stage in the summer of 2014, as tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors were sent northward from Central America. Democrats were emboldened, then, by the perceived rightward shift of the Republican Party, as House majority leader Eric Cantor was ousted in the Virginia primary for his pro-amnesty position. Even Brit Hume was prompted to observe that "Republicans will go forward into the 2016 election without their name associated with immigration reform which will make it very difficult for any Republican to become president."
That observation hasn't aged well, given that Donald Trump, now sitting in the Oval Office, largely centered his campaign on border security and against any form of blanket amnesty. Ann Coulter wrote an entire book about it.
And Obamacare was also the hot topic of the day in 2014, if you'll remember, as Democrats rallied the troops around thwarting a potential Republican Congress, which would destroy Barack Obama's landmark achievement. The problem was that Obamacare was wildly unpopular, as Obama's promise that "you could keep your doctor" contrasted poorly with Americans' experience. By the millions, they lost their health insurance plans, only to be left with the costly (and incredibly limited) Obamacare health insurance plans. Those who "kept" their policies and their doctors faced skyrocketing premiums, and none was too happy about it.

Which is one of many similar reasons I don't put a lot of stock in what Brit Hume says.

Shows what the Britt Hume types think. He had it 180 degrees backward.
This time the Democrats are not running on Obamacare per se. They’re running on pre-existing coverage and while Obamacare as a whole may not be universally popular the pre-existing coverage part of it is. If their lawsuit manages to strike down Obamacare as unconstitutional then the pre-existing requirement is gone with it. The GOP has nothing to replace it with. And healthcare consistently polls at or near the top of voter concerns.
If he didn't say it he wouldn't get invited to any parties.

If my fellow 7th VA voters and I had not Cantorized the weasel Eric Cantor they were planning to pass Rubio’s amnesty the very next day using mostly Democrat votes.
We would have already lost our country.

The plan had been to pass Rubio’s Gang of Amnesty and take the issue off the table for Yeb!
Democrats need to dump the Clintons and Obama and their Socialist idealigogs and go back to their roots. Need good ideas that will bring back their base—LIKE
1. Reparations for all Black people of $10,000 each! People with less black DNA $5,000! That would get votes!
2. All Mexican Citizens residing in USA get to Vote!
3. Minimum Wage (a working wage) $20 an hour!
4. Free Computers for all Americans!
5. Rename Washington DC RosaParksville! or Obamastan.
6. Redesign the American Flag with rainbow stripes and a face of Obama in the field.
7. Free College indoctrination for all students (if they like it or not)
That's one way to put it.
Another way is that his promise was a bald-faced lie, repeated over and over again until no one could forget it.
One of the reasons that Obamacare was an unmitigated failure was how they implemented pre existing conditions. Under Obamacare, you could buy your medical insurance when you needed it, as they were wheeling you into the ER on a gurney. This drove the price of health insurance through the roof. In order to offer no pre existing conditions, you have to spread the risk to everyone and everyone has to carry coverage as you must do with automobile insurance.
To me the healthcare is the most insidious. They are running commercials that are to a tee based on the democrat strategy of relying on amnesia.
If one were to watch the commercials regarding healthcare, one would suppose that the made up issue of no longer covering pre-existing conditions was the only thing wrong with our system. It is as if Obamacare isn’t skyrocketing premiums and limiting care.
I know, I know, the GOP failed to fix Obamacare. But that is a gripe of their own voters. The dems are running the campaign as if everyone loves it and loathes the GOP for trying to get rid of it.
It isn’t as sexy as the invasion approaching our borders right now, but I think the GOP needs to run a few adverts reminding the voters that it is called OBAMACARE and not one Republican voted for it.
That was one hell of a storm of indignation we whipped up against Cantor. A model for what Trump did nationally IMO.
One forgotten outcome of the race was successfully pressuring Cantor to let the Benghazi Commission move forward, which is how we ended up finding Hillary’s secret server.
Only reason we were able to do that was that Cantor was already in full panic mode after losing control of his home county to the grassroots revolt.

That's not a pre-existing condition as defined by the insurance industry. If you have cancer and lose your health insurance and have to find a replacement, the new company can refuse to cover your cancer costs because they had been diagnosed before you asked them to cover the costs. That's what most people think about when they talk about pre-existing condition coverage and that's what scares the heck out of people.
Three issues; they left out gun control.
Oh, so does the government agree with the industry industry definition?
