RICHMOND — The FBI and local police are investigating how at least 19 dead Virginians were recently re-registered to vote in this critical swing state.
One case came to light after relatives of a deceased man received a note congratulating him for registering, Rockingham County Commonwealth’s Attorney Marsha Garst said Thursday.
“His family members were very distraught,” said Garst, who confirmed the existence of the FBI and police investigation but said she could provide few details because the case is ongoing.
All 19 were initially registered as voters in the Shenandoah Valley city of Harrisonburg, although a clerk double-checking the entries later raised questions about one. She recognized the name of Richard Allen Claybrook Sr., who died in 2014 at age 87, because his son is a well-known local judge. She happened to recall that the judge’s father had died.
“He was a retired Fairfax County elementary school principal and had fought in World War II,” said his son, retired Harrisonburg General District Court Judge Richard Allen Claybrook Jr. “So our family is very disgusted that they would pick his name, because he was such a law-abiding citizen devoted to public service.”

The main concern for Democrats, however, is that Republicans are trying to make it harder for dead citizens to vote.

Cute, “no fraud” YET because these dead people have not yet voted. Isn’t it illegal to falsely register? Doesn’t one attest to their identity and eligibility? Find the culprits and jail them!

• Paper ballots with human readable marks. They may be computer generated, and/or computer counted, but there must be a paper audit trail of each vote.
• Purple fingers
• Mandatory free on demand BIOMETRIC (iris scan, nobody ever left their irises at a crime scene!) photo ID, with a database that instantly flags for arrest anyone seeking multiple IDs. Change of name? Simply have your old card voided when you apply for the new one.
• No precinct reports their totals until ALL precincts report they have totals. No results are released untill all results are in. This prevents the last to report precinct captains from knowing how much to fudge a report to give a win to their preferred candidate while maintaining some slight semblance of credibility.
• Repeal Motor Voter.
• End same-day registration where it exists, and allow ample time between registration and election for vetting of credentials of registrants.
• Instantly deport any non-citizen who registers to vote.
• Put a little ⩍ next to the names of those registered voters with death certificates, and detain and put a 72 hour psychiatric hold anyone claiming to be a dead person...
Truly the greatest generation: they live forever.
I guess a voter ID would put a stop to it before it happens. I say let them try it and then decide what punishment it should be. It’s already a felony in Calif. INTENTIONALLY that is.
Very interesting that the FBI is also investigating this. I wonder what federal statute has been violated.

My WWII vet Dad died in 1995. Born and raised in south Chicago as was I. One of the first things my mom did afterwards is take his death certificate down to the clerks office to make sure he was taken off the voter rolls. She did not leave until she saw the clerk do it. This has been part of the Chicago way for a long time.
