Sounds like work opportunities have expanded for American welders.

I know welders looking for work. They are American welders though. I wonder if these ***holes would consider hiring Americans.

“And back at Tigertown, some trailer manufacturers say that if they can't find enough welders, they would consider moving their entire operations to Mexico.”

That will be great with a 25% tariff on top!

Another politically biased piece from NPR.

I hope Trump can manage to defund this propaganda arm of the DNC after the 2020 election.

home to a half-dozen major trailer manufacturers — all competitors. And they all employ undocumented workers.

I think I see the problem...and the solution.

Sounds like they might actually finally have to pay a decent wage for welders.

The whole “Can’t find enough XXX workers” argument really means “Can’t find enough XXX workers willing to work for illegal Mexican wages”

"I think the manufacturing industry in Texas, any kind of steel fabrication construction, depends on illegal immigrant labor," Hiebert says.

If your business model includes the need to hire illegal aliens then you are running a criminal operation and need to go out of business and/or prosecuted.

If you know young men, not a good fit for college or the military, get them into welding.

So after 17 years in the US, why hadn’t Barrios gotten a green card and applied for US citizenship?

In say if a merchant doesn’t offer their goods at a price I’m willing to pay, I’m free to steal tit. Right ?

Where is that tiny violin? Another Cheap Labor employer butt-hurt because he doesn’t want to pay what American welders get per hour. Send them all back to Mexico and Central America. We’ll have hundreds of job openings and there will be people to fill them in six months…at a decent wage, of course.

A fine of $5,000 per day per illegal worker sounds about right to me.

5 years in a Federal penitentiary for the second offense.

There is never a labor shortage but there is an ongoing wage shortage.

Good. Send them all back to Mexico and let Americans weld steel.
