Environmental groups filed another lawsuit Thursday challenging the Trump administrations use of waivers to speed up construction of a border wall, this time in Texas.
Three groups sued the Department of Homeland Security, a week after the agency waived environmental laws along a roughly 25-mile (40-kilometer) stretch of border in the Rio Grande Valley, which is the southernmost point of Texas. [ ]
In Texas, the government wants to connect existing sections of fencing on river levees in Hidalgo County and to close other gaps in fencing in neighboring Cameron County. [ ]
Environmental groups say DHS is wrongly using authority that it received in 2005 for specific projects to waive reviews under more than two dozen laws, including the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.
Jean Su, a lawyer for the Center for Biological Diversity, argued that when the previous border fence was built, Congress directly gave DHS the authority to issue waivers. But that waiver authority was not meant to carry over automatically for future projects, she said. [ ]
Defenders of Wildlife and the Animal Legal Defense Fund joined the lawsuit, which was filed in Washington.

Orange man bad; Orange man hates environment.

Are they still claiming migratory birds won’t be able to fly over it?
This kind of stuff is why I keep suggesting a 30 foot wide bed of cholla cactus inter-spaced with anti-vehicle bollards. Nobody can walk through a 4 foot high bed of cactus. But it would be immune to the environmental objections of wierdo’s
I think it is time to clear out the northern most 10 miles of Mexico, and make it a DMZ with mine fields, fencing, fire bases, etc. Our laws would not apply there.
You’ve got to be serious to know about the cholla cactus. I don’t go near them.
I have seen photos of the trails used by illegals invading this country. The debris, human waste products, disposable diapers, and other items is a toxic mess in & of itself.
I certainly would tell Trump to order that the JUDGE in these
ENVIRO lawsuits make a personal visit to these trails & see what the invaders are doing to ‘our environments’. A chat with any number of ranchers constantly under siege would also be enlightening for the judge.
There’s reason why the word Mental is in Environmentalists
BIG reason to hate Trump since he is bringing back industry.
Ah. There you go. See my post just above about wildways.
Your NPC is showing.

We need to sue these “Environmentalists” for infringing on our God given rights by trying to prevent the government from protecting it’s citizens from invasion.
