No, I understand that a Republican in Massachusetts (at least one getting elected statewide) is not remotely going to look like one from Alabama... I understand that much... I just don’t grasp that if Pocahantas is what they want in a Senator, how they aren’t putting an equally whackadoo left winger in the Governorship?

I am hard pressed to believe, that your Governor is in the abolish Ice, open border crowd?

I think occasionally at play (more so in the past than today) is this:

Liberals are children. A liberal state is like a classroom full of children. At some level, they know they are kids: out of control, need an adult around to protect them.

So ... they sometimes elect a Republican to the executive because as much as they scream about the right, they know at some level that they are more connected to reality, more able to deal with things in life or the life of the State.

Of course in MA, the parent they elect is fake parent, a child calling themselves a parent.

And further, this phenomenon is not the same as it was 20 years ago.

But I believe it plays a part: Children want the executive branch, the parent, to not be as childlike as they are. The Kindergarteners want an adult in the room, because while in part kids want no adult around, they feel safer with one around.

In MA, little do they know, the parent is not a parent but a weasily child calling himself a parent.
