Marcos was in power the times I visited and I felt safer on the streets at night there than in many U.S. cities.

It’s still that way, especially Davao City. Duterte really cleaned up the City. There are places not to go, mostly western Mindanao, and the Sulu Archipelago. Too many Muslims out there.

I imagine that Duterte is a real leader and a breath of fresh air if you are law-abiding and not a muslim.
